Palmela, on the south bank of Lisbon area, was nominated Cidade do Vinho 2009 (wine city) will be celebrating the Wine Day at 28th of June.
The imposing Castle of the town of Palmela is situated in the foothills of Serra da Arrábida. So close to Lisbon, the landscape is charming, with its views over the Natural Park of Arrábida, the Nature Reserve of the river Sado Estuary, Tróia Peninsula, the river Tejo and its marshes. Favoured by nature, Palmela is also particularly prized for the wealth of historical heritage embodied in its Castle and the Military Order of Saint James of the Sword. From golf, to handicrafts, to gastronomy and regional products, even tourist and cultural entertainment, with its numerous festivities, the offer is unlimited. Palmela is famous for its wines of great quality, distinguished both in this country and abroad. Grapes and wine are at the centre of some of the festivities held in the municipality of Palmela. The success of these events has only been possible thanks to the efforts, involvement and dedication of all the producers, associations and population who work closely in their organisation.

Palmela is also known by it Grape Harvest Festival (Festa das Vindimas), by being very a active, dynamic and enthusiast event in the first week of September, it's simply, all about wine.
